- How long before www.(mydomain).com is accessible?
If you registered a new domain, it should be available within 24 hours.
If you’re moving a domain from another provider and it's registered with NetworkSolutions, you will be receiving an email to authorize the switch. The sooner you return this email, the sooner you’ll be up and running. If your domain is registered with another Registrar, you'll need to go to their site to update the DNS information to:
ns5.readyhosting.com - 63.99.209.103 ns6.readyhosting.com - 63.99.209.104
Transferring a domain generally takes about 2-3 days.
- What should I use as the mail server in my mailing script?
mail.readyhosting.com
- How can I check my space usage on my website?
Go to ftp://ftpid:ftppass@yourdomainname.com. Once you are logged in bring the mouse pointer over each folder and right click and choose properties. This will tell you how much space is used up. To find out the amount of space you have left subtract the number used from 500mg and that will be your unused space.
- Is Perl available on the servers?
Perl 5.6.0 by Activestate is installed on all of our servers.

We do not allow MP3, Game or Software download sites. The definition of this is a repository like download.com. If you have a band site with your own music, this would be acceptable. Also if you have a software program that YOU own the copyright to, you can have this for download.
You cannot post anything that is copyrighted or belongs to someone else. We reserve the right to terminate any violation of this.
- How do I setup a DSN for my Access Database?
Visit http://controlpanel.readyhosting.com and login. You will be able to add a DSN from there. Make sure the database is in a folder called 'database' at the SAME level as your 'html' folder.
- Does each site have it's own IP address?
No, each domain name is given a shared IP address. Our network is designed so each domain name does not require an individual IP adress. Having a shared IP address does not affect the access or the performance of your site.
If for some reason you do need an independent IP address for your domain please send an email to requests@readyhosting.com and your request will be evaluated. This does not mean that you will be approved for an independent IP address as each is reviewed on a case by case basis.
- How do I setup Outlook/Outlook Express to send/receive email?
In Outlook/Outlook Express, Click on Tools/Accounts. Click on the Add button. Follow the wizard to setup your account.
The mailservers will be mail.(yourdomain).com for both SMTP and POP3. Your username is your complete email address.
- How do I setup new Email accounts? How do I access the Email Administration?
Go to http://mail.(yourdomain).com:8383 and type “admin@ (yourdomain).com” in the UserID box. Put your password in the password box. The default password is “admin”. You should change this IMMEDIATELY. Once you are logged into Imail as the Administrator, you will see “User Adminstration” on the dropdown box on the top right-hand corner. Once you select this, you will see a list of current users, and a button to “Add”. Click the “Add” button, and fill in the blanks. Leave the mailbox size and max messages blank to allow unlimited box size. If you enter a number in these, keep in mind that it’s in ‘bytes’, not MegaBytes. Make sure you check “Allow Web Access” so you can access them through your webbrowser.
